BIO
Weapons of God
Weapons of God is a Christian Metal band from Dayton, Ohio,
formed by singer/guitarist Steve McGowan in 2014.
The name of the band was inspired by the verses of the Bible,
Ephesians 6:10-20,“The Armor of God.'
In 2016, they made their debut after veteran Singer/Guitarist Leon Black joined the band.
After being signed by Roxx Productions in 2018, they recruited veteran bassist Ed Girard (former member of 'Four Star Revival') who joined the band, and in July 2019, their self-titled debut album, Weapons of God was released at the Chains Unchained festival in Aurora, Missouri.
Their sophomore album titled, The War Within Us was released in September 2021, both albums garnering good reviews. In late 2023, Jason Harmon joined the band as our interim drummer to make the current line-up and in recent months has accepted the full time position has a member of WOG.
Between 2019 and current day, Weapons of God, along with many performances has been honored to share the stage with popular bands such as: Biogenesis, Disciple, The Protest, Relent, Chaotic Resemblance, Images of Eden, Stryken, Ignescent, Decyfer Down, Out of Darkness, Tantric, and many more.
On the weekend of July 26th - 27th, 2024, Weapons of God opened Immortal Fest - Part 1 in Versailles, OH at the BMI Event Center, sharing the stage with bands such as: Theocracy, Deliverance, InnerSeige, Reign of Glory, and Human Code, making this the biggest event Weapons of God has ever played.
In 2024, due to demand for the band’s music in light of their first 2 albums being out of print, Roxx Records released Ammunition Edition, featuring a sampler of the best of the band from those 2 albums, plus some remixed tunes and a new song called “To Everyone Who Hates Christmas Music.”
On May 1, 2025, Weapons inked an agreement to sign with Resurrection Records, joining a small group of bands like Fear Not and The Brave who are concurrently signed to both Resurrection Records and Roxx Records for even more exposure.
Their third full length cd "TRIbulation" in 2025, slated for a release coinciding with their performance at Immortal Fest 8/29/25.
As for the Weapons of God sound, they are rooted in the old school of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Progressive Rock influences that stretch from Kiss to Stryper, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Zakk Wylde, and many others. Weapons of God, as a Christian Metal band, offer through their lyrics and music an uplifting message that can be used to praise God, for fellowship, and for spiritual warfare.
